Lights! Camera! Action! Three words which are pretty commonly heard on the streets of the West Village or Soho, but in Stapleton? Film crews setting up shop in Staten Island seems to be the latest trend as more and more visitors from Hollywood pop up right here in our backyards to attempt to catch on film the charm and quaint beauty of our neighborhood. My question is, "What took them so long to see what we as residents see everyday?" So, was that really Richard Dreyfus walking down Van Duzer Street the other day? If you were driving past the Muddy Cup Coffee House then yes, it actually was him.
Recently, the Muddy Cup Coffee House caught the eye of a location scout for the CBS television series, the Education of Max Bickford and grabbed it's spot as the set for the college student's hang out for the show. Owners, Jim Svetz and Robb Huddleston, say the fact that the coffee house was actually able to keep it's name in the national television show was more than they could have hoped for. As of now, two episodes have been filmed at the Muddy Cup and more filming is scheduled for January. The show starring Richard Dreyfus, airs on CBS, Sundays at 8 p.m. So the next time your driving around Staten Island and think you see a celebrity, who knows? It may just be them.
